FACT Inspector Application

The FACT inspectorate consists of highly experienced professionals with vested interests in providing and securing the best quality cellular therapy products for transplantation. The inspectorate includes transplant physicians, facility and medical directors, scientists, nurses, and medical technologists with prerequisite affiliations with accredited clinical programs, cord blood banks, collection facilities and processing facilities.

START FACT INSPECTOR APPLICATION

To determine eligibility, FACT requests prospective inspectors to submit a detailed application along with supportive documentation.  Inspectors must be affiliated with a FACT or FACT-NetCord accredited or applicant organization, and be a member of ISCT, ASBMT, ASFA, or EBMT or be affiliated with a member bank of NetCord. Specific requirements for inspector categories are listed below.

Cellular Therapy Inspector Categories

Clinical Program Inspector

  • Licensed physician (medical degree).
  • At least two years of experience in cellular therapy product administration.

Apheresis Collection Inspector

  • Relevant doctoral (M.D. or Ph.D.), nursing, or biological science degree.
  • Completed formal fellowship training in apheresis or at least one year experience in peripheral blood progenitor cell collection by apheresis as the director, physician, nurse, technician or individual with direct supervision of apheresis personnel.

Marrow Collection Inspector

  • Qualified as either a clinical program inspector or an apheresis collection facility inspector but must be a licensed physician.

Cellular Therapy Processing Inspector

  • Categories 1 and 2:
    • Relevant doctoral (M.D. or Ph.D.), biological science, or medical technologist degree.
    • At least two years of experience as a director or medical director of a cell processing facility or as an individual with direct supervision of processing personnel.
  • Category 2 only:
    • Experience processing cellular therapy products intended for administration with more-than-minimal manipulation under IND requirements.

Cord Blood Bank Inspector Categories

Cord Blood Bank Inspector

  • Relevant doctoral (M.D. or Ph.D.) degree.
  • Two years of experience in cord blood banking and/or transplantation or
  • Active FACT clinical and/or bank inspector experienced with cord blood transplantation.

Cord Blood Bank Collection Inspector

  • Relevant doctoral (M.D. or Ph.D.), nursing, or biological science degree.
  • At least one year of experience as a cord blood bank director or individual with direct supervision of cord blood collection personnel.

Cord Blood Bank Processing Inspector

  • Relevant doctoral (M.D. or Ph.D), biological science, or medical technologist degree.
  • At least two years of experience as a director or medical director of a cord blood bank or a cellular therapy product processing facility or as an individual with direct supervision of cord blood bank, cord blood processing, or cellular therapy product processing personnel.
