FACT Inspector Application

The FACT inspectorate consists of highly experienced professionals with strong and vested interests in securing the highest quality cellular therapy products for transplantation. The inspectorate includes transplant physicians, program directors, cord blood bank directors and facility directors.

To determine eligibility, FACT asks prospective inspectors to submit a detailed application and curriculum vitae.

Cellular Therapy Inspector Criteria

Cellular Therapy inspectors must be a member of ISCT, ISCT-Europe, ASBMT, ASFA, EBMT, or affiliated with a bank that is a member of NetCord.  Approved applicants from FACT accredited organizations are eligible to become active inspectors upon completion of the Inspector Training Program.  Approved applicants from organizations that have applied for FACT accreditation are able to become inspector trainees and are eligible to serve as active inspectors once their organization has completed the FACT accreditation process.  

Additionally, the following criteria apply:

Clinical Program Inspector Requirements
  • Licensed physician (medical degree).
  • Two years experience in cellular therapy product administration.
Apheresis Collection Inspector Requirements
  • Relevant doctoral (M.D. or Ph.D.), nursing, or biological science degree.
  • Completed formal fellowship training in apheresis or at least one year experience in peripheral blood progenitor cell collection by apheresis as the director, physician, nurse, technician or individual with direct supervision of apheresis personnel. 
Bone Marrow Collection Inspector Requirements
  • Qualified as either a clinical program inspector or an apheresis collection facility inspector. If the collection inspector is not a licensed physician, the inspection of the bone marrow collection facility must be performed by a licensed physician inspecting other facilities at the same program. 
Cellular Therapy Processing Inspector Requirements
  • Relevant doctoral (M.D. or Ph.D.), biological science, or medical technologist degree. 
  • Two years experience as a director or medical director of a cell processing facility or as an individual with direct supervision of processing personnel.  

Cord Blood Bank Inspector Criteria

Cord Blood inspectors must be a member of ISCT, ISCT-Europe, ASBMT, ASFA, EBMT, or affiliated with a bank that is a member of NetCord. Applicants must also be affiliated with a FACT or FACT-NetCord accredited or applicant organization.

Additionally, the following criteria apply:

Cord Blood Bank Inspector Requirements
  • Relevant doctoral (M.D. or Ph.D.) degree.
  • Two years experience in cord blood banking and/or transplantation or
  • Active FACT clinical and/or bank inspector experienced with cord blood transplantation.
Cord Blood Bank Collection Inspector Requirements
  • Relevant doctoral (M.D. or Ph.D.), nursing, or biological science degree.
  • One year experience as a cord blood bank director or individual with direct supervision of cord blood collection personnel.  
Cord Blood Bank Processing Inspector Requirements
  • Relevant doctoral (M.D. or Ph.D), biological science, or medical technologist degree. 
  • Two years experience as a director or medical director of a cord blood bank or a cellular therapy product processing facility or
  • An individual with direct supervision of cord blood bank, cord blood processing, or cellular therapy product processing personnel.
